Intro
WorkOS is a developer-first platform that helps SaaS companies integrate enterprise-ready features such as SSO, SCIM, and FGA with minimal engineering lift. I joined as a freelancer to create presentation templates, but quickly became a long-term design partner supporting marketing across web, blog, campaigns, events, and social. My role was to help the team move quickly while keeping the brand consistent and clear.
Markandeya’s work helped us turn abstract features into visual stories our users could immediately understand.
— Content Strategist
Challenge
As a high-growth startup, WorkOS needed design support that was fast, adaptable, and accurate. The brand had to communicate complex developer concepts clearly while producing a steady flow of marketing materials across multiple channels..
- Explaining technical features through approachable visuals
- Maintaining brand quality under tight deadlines
- Supporting a wide range of outputs from landing pages to event collateral
Each project required balancing speed with thoughtful execution, ensuring assets were both polished and practical.
Process
I worked closely with content, growth, and engineering teams to design assets that were on-brand and technically accurate. Projects included landing pages, campaign graphics, social media, and more than 50 blog illustrations that visualized complex product features. To keep production moving, I also maintained a lightweight Figma system for recurring assets.
- Designed responsive landing pages and campaign collateral with clear hierarchy and strong messaging
- Created a large library of custom blog and product illustrations to simplify technical concepts
- Streamlined workflows with reusable components and templates for faster, more consistent output
This approach combined hands-on execution with scalable systems, allowing the team to ship quickly without sacrificing quality.
Opportunity
The role offered the chance to help shape the voice of a startup as it grew its presence in a competitive developer market. Through illustration, page design, and scalable visual systems, I contributed to building a consistent identity that felt both credible and approachable.
Competitive Environment
WorkOS competes with established providers like Okta and Auth0, as well as custom in-house solutions. Differentiation depended on speed, simplicity, and credibility. My work supported this by making product concepts visually accessible, ensuring marketing felt polished and modern, and delivering assets at the pace the business needed.
